DJ Tocom Rubber Settles Lower; Nikkei, FOMC Eyed Tocom rubber futures settle lower, extending Monday's losses as market confidence remains low and as Chinese participation thins ahead of the Lunar New Year holidays, which start Friday. Tocom may continue to decline to Y220/kg this week if the Nikkei does not pick up, says Kaname Gokon, deputy manager of research at Tokyo-based brokerage Okato Shoji. The Nikkei ended 0.2% lower Tuesday. Also in focus is the U.S. Federal Open Market Committee's decision on monetary policy due Wednesday. The previous benchmark June rubber contract settles Y2.6 lower at Y226.7/kg. The new benchmark July rubber contract opened at Y230.5/kg and settled at Y228.1/kg. (
